The update and new DLC, featuring the recently announced race, are the latest additions coming to Against the Storm.
The Eremite Games team is still developing their first title, which has turned out to be one of the best games of 2023. In February, players received the 1.7 update, which was relatively modest but included many well-received changes, some of which were inspired by fan opinions.
However, the community has long known that at least one more new feature is heading towards the game. It's a bat race that will, in some way, fulfill the developers' vision for the playable factions in Against the Storm.
The announcement on Steam didn't provide much information beyond stating that the bats are a "raw and fiercely dedicated folk," "proud of enduring what can break others," and apparently "unable to stand being favored." Their specialization will be metallurgy, although no job will probably satisfy them.
We learn more from the official list of changes in the beta version of Against the Storm, which the Eremite Games team published on Steam. According to the description, rather than a single "comfortable" activity, the bats will gain dedication, a unique ability that improves their resolve when of other races perish or depart from the settlement.
In addition to the bat race expansion for Against The Storm, an update is coming. This will slightly alter the game's balance by enabling the use of service resources without constructing a special building and adjusting the bonus to reputation earned through determination.
Both the new race and the changes from the update can be tested. Those interested in checking out these new features can the tests through the "Beta" tab in the "Properties" of AtS, available from the game collection on Steam, by right-clicking on Against the Storm (the access code for the beta is "LetMeTestTheDLC"; via Eremite Games on Steam).
