Developers of Cookie Jam had quite a good idea when creating Buzzwords. This event gathers thousands of people every week. However, answering some of the questions may be difficult. Nevertheless, we are here to help you (at least a little bit). Every week we try to answer various inquiries for our readers. This time, one of them is “Burning ball of gas in space”. Let’s look at it together.

Answer to “Burning ball of gas in space” in Cookie Jam

To be honest I was quite happy when I saw this question. Not only is it a short one, but I also knew the answer immediately, as I am interested in space.

  1. Burning ball of gas in space – Star.

Of course, the answer is a star. The closest one to us is the Sun. It is an important part of our cosmic vicinity because thanks to its gravity our solar system holds together. Moreover, its light makes life as we know it possible. Sadly, it will die when it runs out of hydrogen, but we have billions of years before that happens. Hopefully, we will find another planet to live on until then. So, don’t worry.

While it is definitely the biggest object in our system, with 864,000 miles (1.39 million kilometers) diameter, it is far from being the largest star. This title (at least among those which we know of) is for UY Scuti. Believe it or not, but it is about 1700 larger than the Sun. If you want to put it into perspective, watch this YouTube video by Global Data, which shows this star compared to Earth and the Sun. It’s really fascinating and makes you realize how small we really are.
