Resident Evil 9 aims to be a revolution on par with RE4 and RE7
Capcom is still working on Resident Evil 9, which is unofficially expected to be as much of a „reinvention” for the series as the „fourth” and „seventh” installments of the series.

Such information was obtained by Dusk Golem, an insider specializing in reports on the activities of Capcom company. He isn't always right, but there have been instances where he provided accurate information, even if it took a while to it (e.g., regarding leaks about the Silent Hill series).
Earlier, in May 2024, Dusk Golem claimed that the release of RE 9 could take place at the beginning of this year - which, as we can see, didn't happen, which he mentioned in the same month. His new post on X may explain this matter. The insider claims that the work on the ninth Resident Evil is taking so long because it is a "major reinvention of the series," comparable to what we could see in the fourth and seventh installments.
Action or horror?
Resident Evil 4 kept many classic elements from the original trilogy but moved significantly away from the survival horror atmosphere, focusing more on action. (Some fans even argue that this title doesn't represent the genre). With Resident Evil 7, it was the opposite: Biohazard focused more on horror, including through the use of FPP view, because - as the director of RE 9 said in July - Capcom realized that Resident Evil has to be terrifying.
Of course, along with these general assumptions, there were changes in the gameplay. Also in "RE9," the developers are going to try out many new and "very ambitious" ideas. Nevertheless, a consequence of this is the extended development time for the game. Evidently, refining such experiments requires a significant amount of time.
Unfortunately, at the moment Dusk Golem is not even 100% convinced that Resident Evil 9 will be revealed this year - although he is "almost certain" of it.
Let's hope that this time his "leaks" are accurate, but, as always, we advise you to treat all unofficial information with caution.
