Subclasses and photo mode made Baldur's Gate 3 players happy, but there is another Patch 8 element that is „more important than ever”
Larian Studios' publishing director thanked the team thanks to whom Patch 8 to Baldur's Gate 3 introduced crossplay.

The developers of added many new features to the game on Tuesday, but it was crossplay that the game's publisher particularly thanked the Larian Studios team for.
The latest update for Baldur's Gate 3 marks the culmination of the game's development, from early access in 2020 to the PC release and launch on consoles. During this time, the devs released seven major patches, each of which was impressive in size. Of course, some of the changes were "just" patching BG 3 (which isn't surprising, considering the scale and freedom offered by the game... and some initial shortcomings), but there were also various new features.
Crossplay more important than ever before
Nonetheless, we could argue that Patch 8 is the biggest of all the updates so far. Adding 12 subclasses is a great way to bring some new excitement for players who have already spent a lot of time in Larian's game. The photo mode also sparked a lot of excitement - simply check out the developers' social media profiles, where they share numerous "photos" from fans.
In this context, it's easy to forget about another novelty that Michael Douse pointed out (via X). Even the well-received trailer for the eighth patch saves it for the very end.
The publishing director of Larian Studios published a "special thanks" to the engineers and specialists of the backend, thanks to whom crossplay finally came to Baldur’s Gate 3. The developer emphasized that it was not an easy task, but this mode "in this increasingly eco-system driven world more important than ever."
This is obviously not the end of patching Baldur’s Gate 3. The game will continue to receive bug fixes, but without any new content. Unless Larian Studios gets carried away again and prepares some surprises for the fans.
