As Dusk Falls is an interactive drama from the independent Interior/Night studio, which was founded by co-founder Heavy Rain. In the game we learn the fate of of two American families over the course of 30 years.
As Dusk Falls belongs to the genre of narrative adventure games, often referred to as interactive films. This is the debut game of the independent Interior/Night studio, founded in 2016 by co-founder of Beyond: Two Souls from Quantic Dream studio.
The action As Dusk Falls takes place in the south-western region of the United States, namely in a city in the state of Arizona. In it we learn about the history of two families, whose fates were connected in the desert in 1999. The developers have been tempted to apply an interesting narrative procedure called in medias res, and thus the plot starts from the middle of the events presented in the game, i.e. from a robbery that didn't go well with one of the two families involved. The action is not linear - the game is flashbacked and regularly leaps forward, so we get to know the relationship between the two families and their over three decades.
As Dusk Falls tells a dramatic but realistic story about life, truth, revenge and sacrifice.
The game is not only about getting to know the story prepared by the creators, but also about making difficult choices affecting both future events and character.
The graphics in As Dusk Falls are distinguished by hand-painted illustrations and in of form the game resembles an interactive comic book.

With its ability to constantly pull the rug out from under you, As Dusk Falls doesn’t fade into a forgettable narrative experience we’ve seen a thousand times. Instead, it leaves its mark, with a long shadow cast by its sad but understandable characters’ hardships drawn across threads seemingly made of jagged wire. What will haunt you is whether the thread you chose really was the best one at the time. As in life, the answer will likely be: probably not.
