The third installment in a series of tactical strategy games set in the World War II, as always created by Spanish developer Pyro Studios. Commandos 3: Destination Berlin places you as the leader of a six-men squad of special soldiers, whom the fans know from the first game in the series. Each of them has unique skills and specialization.
Commandos 3: Destination Berlin is another installment in the series of tactical strategy games set during World War II, in which we command a small group of specially trained commandos sent on a high risk missions behind enemy lines.
Across 20 missions, split into four WWII campaigns (London – training, Normandy, and , and Stalingrad) the player is challenged with a variety of objectives: from the search-and-destroy type of missions known from the previous games, to brand new ones, such as defending an Allied general from an airborne assault, ambushing a German convoy, planning an assault on a German garrison together with the French resistance, or capturing a train full of Nazis on its way from to .
Mission structure has been overhauled and, in effect, maps are now divided into smaller sections – only after completing one you move to another. Commandos 3: Destination Berlin also packs more action into gameplay than the previous installments did, and with each ing mission the player has to come up with new tactics and ideas.
Some improvements were also made to the AI that controls enemies behavior. Among them we encounter ordinary infantry soldiers, Gestapo, SS officers, etc, and each one behaves differently, depending on his abilities and training.
The main game mode is obviously the single player campaign, but Commandos 3: Destination Berlin also offers improved multiplayer with newly added Deathmatch mode.
In comparison with the previous installment, Commandos 3: Destination Berlin offers improved graphics. In result, bombings, explosions and gunfire are more realistic. Moreover, some new weather effects were added. Thanks to engine improvements both outside environments and interiors were improved.
