Developing a sequel that sures the original is always a challenge. In case of Mankind Divided, the goal was partly achieved. While the gameplay hits all the right notes, the plot leaves something to be desired.

Best RPGs for Pacifist Run and Completion Without Killing

In some role-playing games, such as Deus Ex or Fallout, you don't have to resort to violence to complete the game. What's more, the so-called "pacifist run" or non violent often turns out to be much more interesting or challenging than usual combat.

RPG

A story expansion for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, a first-person action RPG released in summer 2016 by Eidos Montreal. A Criminal Past requires the vanilla game in order to work. Mechanics-wise, the DLC doesn’t introduce any meaningful changes to the gameplay. Plot-wise, it is a prequel whose action takes place before the events of the core game and is focused on one of the secret missions that the protagonist, Adam Jensen, took on for Task Force 29. Working undercover as an inmate, the hero is taken to a prison for augmented criminals. His task is to discover what happened to a TF29 operative who has recently gone completely silent.

RPG

The first major story expansion for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided by Eidos Montreal. System Rift does not introduce any novelties into the gameplay mechanics, which still allows a lot of freedom of action and choice of one of several alternative ways to achieve a goal. A stealthy approach and careful observation is still the most profitable option, and awarded with numerous secret collectibles. The plot of the add-on is rich in plot twists. While playing, we are taken to Prague where Adam Jensen takes on a completely new mission. It was given to him by his former partner, Frank Pritchard, whom the protagonist owed a favor. The hero’s task involves infiltration of a local data bank. In its course, Adam Jensen has an opportunity to get to know several new characters better, a hacker named ShadowChild known from the Breach mode being the primary one.
