Release Date: September 30, 2025
A remastered version of the cult tactical RPG from Square Enix. Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles refreshes the graphics, but it also introduces voiced dialogues and various quality of life improvements. It's also possible to run the original version of the game.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles is a graphically refreshed, enhanced and content-enhanced version of Final Fantasy Tactics, the cult tactical RPG released in 1998. The production was developed and released by Square Enix, which has custody of the brand, and was overseen by the original's authors, such as director Kazutoyo Maehiro, art director Hiroshi Minagawa and writer Yasumi Matsuno.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles brings a number of innovations that make it stand out from the original.
The described title boasts, first of all, new graphics. The developers have raised the resolution and adapted the whole thing to the widescreen proportions of displays, as well as upgraded the various elements of the visual sphere, led by character sprites. In addition, they leaned on the interface, which was prepared from scratch.
It does not end there, as the described work also brings fully voiced dialogues. The list of the latter also includes completely new conversations that further expand the game's scenario.
A number of quality-of-life improvements have also been introduced here. We're talking about new difficulty levels, automatic saving of the game state during clashes, the ability to confirm the order of turns, the tactical view (allowing you to perform reconnaissance of the battlefield from afar), as well as speeding up battles.
A sort of icing on the cake is the ability to run the classic Final Fantasy Tactics in its original form.
Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles takes us to the title's medieval-inspired fantasy kingdom. Ivalice is struggling with the effects of a devastating war, bloodlessness and a power struggle waged by Prince Goltana - the Black Lion and Prince Larga - the White Lion.
During the course of the game, we take on the role of a young member of the Beoulve family named Ramza, who finds himself in the middle of this chaos. The protagonist stands at the head of a team formed by such companions as Delita, Ovelia and Alma.
In Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, the action is viewed in an isometric view.
The pillar of the gameplay is the clashes with opponents, fought in arenas covered with a grid of square p?l. On the battlefield we have to place the of the team properly, as well as skillfully use their abilities, efficiently juggling their attacks and skills.
Skirmishes take place in turn-based mode, while the CT indicator determines the order in which the participants make their moves. Once the CT indicator is filled (and thus 100 points are accumulated), a particular character can make an attack or other move.
More than 20 character classes have been implemented in the game, among which we can find, among others, the black mage, geomancer (manipulating the environment), summoner, time mage or thief. Each of them is associated with a distinct set of abilities; each also has individual strengths and weaknesses. As we progress, we develop Ramza and his companions, gradually increasing their combat potential.
