Final Fantasy XI Expansion Pack
Release Date: March 22, 2009
The first addition to the famous Japanese MMORPG called Final Fantasy XI. This short add-on offers one scenario consisting of 12 tasks. In addition, we will find there a lot of new items and improvements. The supplement was distributed only by digital means.
A Crystalline Prophecy is the first mini-expansion for Final Fantasy XI. It contains a single scenario for the game, enriching it with one adventure and new items for all professions.
A Crystalline Prophecy features a new storyline, unrelated to the basic version of the game. One day, a giant crystal appears in the sky above the land of Jeuno, triggering a series of unusual and unexplained events. Adventurers face the task of discovering the secrets of the strange object and restoring peace in Jeuno.
The scenario offers 12 tasks, ending in a final battle. Victory gives access to valuable prizes, and its summary is a short film.
This was the first time the game's developer, Square Enix offered the players a paid mini-expansion for the game. It is only available in digital distribution via PlayOnline. A characteristic feature of such scenarios, also commonly called mini-add-ons, is the use of existing game content. A Crystalline Prophecy doesn't add, like large expansions, new territories or monsters.
