Forgotton Anne is a game developed by an indie studio, ThroughLine Games. This title, released on PC, PS4 and XONE, combines elements from point-and-click and platformer games and does it in an original way.
Plot
Forgotton Anne takes players to a fantasy world – Forgotten Lands – inhabited by creatures that were created out of abandoned everyday objects. The so called "Forgotlings" are used clothes, single socks, old toys or thrown away letters. The main hero is the titular Anne – the girl works as an enforcer and her job is to ensure that law and order in the entire land. When a rebellion raises, our main heroine and her master – Bonku – need to stop the riots and bring back the balance and peace.
During the game we can find new intrigues and plot twists. We can learn about new plot points not only through dialogs with encountered characters but mainly thanks to animated cut-scenes.
Mechanics
The action in Forgotton Anne, available on PC, PS4 and XONE, is presented from a side perspective. The gameplay mechanics that the game borrows from the platformer genre are the way of movement of our character, which means that we need to climb and jump on platforms. What makes exploration interesting are the game's puzzles. The girl can use the help of a mysterious stone, Arca that can directly influence energy vibrations of many elements in the world. This ability allows it to control both living creatures as well as machines.
Technical aspects
Forgotton Anne, available on PC, PS4 and XONE, has visually attractive cartoony graphics that can remind of studio Ghibli's movies – creators of such classic movies like Howl's Moving Castle or Spirited Away. The well-animated characters are accompanied by locations that are full of colors and the original soundtrack created for this game.
