Release Date: July 14, 2015
A remastered version of the third installment in a cult action-game franchise, whose consecutive parts were released on different generations of Sony’s consoles. This product was prepared to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the series and was released on PlayStation 4. The story is a direct sequel to God of War II. It tells about the war between titans and gods, which was ignited by Kratos.
God of War III is the next installment in the renowned series of action games. This time, however, the developers have decided to release a remastered version for the PS4, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the creation of this famous cycle.
In God of War III the players receive new deadly weapon types, each one requiring a different playstyle. The fresh arsenal includes, e.g. the Cestus gauntlets, connected with chains to large, spiked, metal spheres. They make for an excellent ranged weapon and can also knock back the enemies which manage to get close to Kratos. The hero also has magic and artifacts at his disposal (e.g. Icarus’s Wings, the Golden Fleece or the Head of Helios – which our main character has decided to use as a flashlight). With the third installment of the series come more intelligent, and definitely more diversified enemies.
What is of grave importance to the God of War cycle is the combat with mighty bosses, the developers have realised those even better than in the previous productions; their number has been reconsidered and lowered, which mean we will see less of them than in God of War II; however, more than in the cycle’s first installment. The developers have also added an interesting new feature – the ability to steer the enemies we have previously wounded (e.g. great cyclopes).
The storyline (created by Marianne Krawczyk) is definitely one of the stronger sides of the title. The story begins right where we left our last adventure with Kratos off and tells the tale of the wars between the titans and the gods, which our protagonist has actively been stoking up. Our hero is constantly searching for answers to questions which have tormented most of humanity for a long time, e.g. “does the human race really need any gods ?”.

God of War is a series of action adventure games with a third-person perspective (TPP) view. The authors of the series strongly allude to the convention of so-called slashers (hack'n'slash) - the essence of gameplay here is the brutal elimination of hordes of enemies and fighting giant bosses. Bloody carnage is interspersed with simple logic puzzles and simple platforming elements. The series also offers the possibility to develop the protagonist and improve his arsenal.
Game Ratings for God of War III Remastered Video Game.
The Jimquisition: 8.5 / 10 by James Stephanie Sterling
Nevertheless, being half a decade old and still kicking plentiful quantities of arse, God of War III Remastered is definitely one of the recent double-dips that I feel confident to recommending, even to those who have already played it.
GameSpot: 8 / 10 by Kevin VanOrd
God of War III on the PS4 is the same exciting game that it always was--just a little prettier.
PlayStation Universe: 9 / 10 by Garri Bagdasarov
God of War III is a title worth playing as you can see by the review score, but it's just hard to recommend one game for $40 when you can spend $20 and get five including GoW III.
