Roguelike maintaned in turn-based RPG convention. In Rogue Lords we play the role of the Devil, who sows chaos in an alternative version of 17th century New England, with the help of his faithful Disciples of Evil.
Rogue Lords is a roguelike. The game was made in collaboration between Cyanide Studio, known for such projects as Call of Cthulhu, and Leikir Studio, whose portfolio includes such games as Isbarah and Wondershot. It was released by Nacon.
Rogue Lords takes us on a journey to an alternate version of 17th century New England, which is home to sinister, supernatural creatures and humans. During the game we play the role of the Devil himself, trying to regain his former power after a miserable defeat and once again sow corruption in the world. As befits a ruler of hell (albeit weakened, but still), the protagonist is not doomed to lonely crossing. He is ed in fight by the Disciples of Evil, among whom we can find Bloody Mary, Dracula, the White Lady, and Baron Samedi (lord of the underworld in voodoo religion).
In Rogue Lords, we travel through atmospheric locations and sow chaos by interacting with the depicted world and the characters who inhabit it. In addition, we often have turn-based battles with our enemies, to which we lead both Devil and his companions. Each of the anti-heroes has individual abilities, the range of which expands as they progress.
When the Devil is on the brink of death, his last resort is to use special powers and certain deceptions available in the interface, which can still change the fate of the battle in his favour. However, if they also prove ineffective and the Devil does not survive, then there is nothing left to do but to start the fight from scratch, because the game has permadeath mechanics.

Rogue Lords is a fine lead-up to the spooky season, with a genuinely addictive gameplay loop and a satisfying combat system. The ability to mess with the game’s own mechanics as the Devil is an absolutely inspired idea, and the experience is only made less than perfect by a few glitches that need patching out. The game would feel a little more complete if there were more to do in each chapter’s overworld, but what is there is a delightfully challenging roguelike. The inability to lower the difficulty may turn some people away, but other people will relish the challenge.
