Release Date: August 14, 2017
An upgraded version of the bestselling 1998 RTS game. Both versions were developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Compared to the original release, the game (including the Brood War expansion) features mainly significantly improved audiovisuals. Although the visuals remain two-dimensional, all the graphic elements have become more detailed.
StarCraft: Remastered for PC is a refreshed edition of the classic real-time strategy game, which originally came out in 1998. Both versions were developed by Blizzard Entertainment.
The game is set in the far future, and the action takes place in a distant region of the Milky Way, known as the Koprulu sector. The Terrans (representing humanity) encounter alien races embodied by the technologically advanced Protoss here, as well as the insect-like Zerg. A great war outbreaks between these races – it will change the balance of power in the galaxy forever.
When creating StarCraft: Remastered, the developer decided not to introduce any changes to the mechanics, thus the game is a traditional RTS, which requires the player to gather resources, build bases, produce units, and lead them to battle against the enemy's HQ.
Three playable factions were included, and each of them is significantly different from the others, having both unique advantages and disadvantages. The Protoss have the most advanced technology and psionic abilities - even a single unit belonging to this faction can achieve a lot. However, their weak spot lies in the small number of military forces, as well as in high prices one has to pay in order to train the army and build different structures. Contrary to them, the Zerg emphasizes hordes of weaker units – those are cheap and the player can produce them very quickly. Simultaneously however, their buildings can be placed only in areas that had been transformed by them, which takes some time. On the other hand, the Terrans are very universal and incredibly mobile, as they are capable of transporting their buildings. When it comes to their disadvantages, they develop their technology at a slow pace, and their structures are quite large, which makes it more difficult to construct bases.
StarCraft: Remastered for PC offers six campaigns (two for each of the races), as well as a multiplayer mode, which gives an opportunity to compete against other players.
StarCraft: Remastered for PC significantly improves the visuals of the original version. Although the visuals are still two-dimensional, the graphics were refreshed and now offer a higher level of detail than in the original release. Also, the game brings for high resolution and widescreen settings up to 4K. The in-game campaigns were enriched with new illustrations that convey the story. The audio was improved as well, including dialogues between characters. Apart from that, the creators added 8 new language versions.
Significant changes were introduced to the game's online component. StarCraft: Remastered received full for such modern-day utilities, as the advanced matchmaking, storage of save files in the cloud, easy access to fan-made maps, a system of replays, or quick button re-mapping.

StarCraft Remastered is still just as fantastic and compelling to play as it was nearly 20 years ago.
Softpedia: 9 / 10 by Silviu Stahie
All in all, I can't understand the point of StarCraft: Remastered. I see that it's much prettier, and people with high-res displays will be able to run it in all its glory. The problem is that there is no real glory, and the one that's left exists only in the minds of the people that played the original. It's not a particularly bad remastering of a cult game, but it's almost futile.
