Conviction is the fifth installment in the action game series featuring a special agent Sam Fisher. This production was developed by Ubisoft Montreal Studios, and is much different from its predecessors in of game concept.
The game story sees Sam chasing the murderers of his daughter. The protagonist conducts an investigation of his own – he cuts off from both the agency and his old friends. When Ann Grimsdottir, an employee of Third Echelon, s Sam about a new lead, he knows this is just another bait to lure him into getting back to the agency. This starts a brand new adventure.
Conviction is revolutionary for the series, focusing on dynamic gameplay and innovative narrative. As for the former, the movement system was simplified as compared with the previous games, so to make the protagonist a deadly killing machine. When it comes to narrative, the authors drew inspiration e.g. from 24 TV show or movies like The Bourne Identity or Taken.
Conviction also contains co-op mode, in which players assume roles of two special agents – an American named Archer and his Russian counterpart Kestrel. The two gentlemen have to perform a series of missions, which constitute a 5-hour prologue to Sam Fisher’s adventures.
