For countless years we were able to experience parts of ideas that Toby has introduced through demo, yet now we will be able to venture on the full journey… or will we? How many chapters are there in Deltarune?
While Deltarune is not a direct sequel to Undertale, it is still set in the same universe, and we will meet some known characters on our way through this weird world and its story. With the game getting a paid version after nearly 7 years, we can expect to finally play through the whole plot and see all chapters, right?
Not quite. In fact, we will have access only to 4 out of 7 visible chapters, yet the story is much deeper than that. It is confirmed by Toby Fox that he is currently working on chapter 5, so it will still take some time before the whole intended content is in the production. However, I didn’t use word “visible” in vain previously, as some data miners were able to spot remnants of more chapters in the files. We have seen files suggesting plans for chapters 0, 8, 9, and even 10. Some folks have mentioned even 11th one, yet that’s a bit farfetched.

Deltarune is surrounded by a fog of mystery and anticipation, similarly to Hollow Knight Silksong. Despite 7 visible parts of the production, it is actually uncertain whether it is here to stay. Additionally, considering how long it took the creator to make them, we can assume that the final portion of the game will not be released anytime soon. Will chapter 3 become free?
When it comes to the pricing of Deltarune, it is an interesting one. It is important to notice that Chapters 1 and 2 serve as a demo, so they are completely free. However, many fans wonder if the 3rd part will also become available at no additional cost. At this point, it doesn’t look like it, as to play it you have to buy the game. Unless the Undertale case happens again. While Xbox owners had to wait for the game the longest (until 2021), it was immediately released to Xbox Game .
That being said, if you buy the full version of the production, you will gain access to chapters 3 and 4, as one would expect, but also any subsequent chapters that will be released down the line. On the day of premiere, the game will cost $24.99, which seems to be a fair price for a title from such a renowned artist.
